Mozart's piano concertos
The profound Beethoven expert Rudolf Buchbinder is equally familiar with Mozart's oeuvre. In the Great Hall, the grand seigneur will perform three of Mozart's pianistic masterpieces and, as Mozart himself used to do, will conduct the orchestra from the piano. Buchbinder's programme includes the A major Concerto K 488, written in 1786 for the Vienna Academy Concerts organised by Mozart himself, and the B flat major work K 595, which he probably played in March 1791 at his last performance as a pianist. The crowning finale is the Concerto in C major K 467, whose Andante is one of the most melodically magical works the Salzburg composer ever wrote.
