Festival Strings Lucerne

Am 26. August 1956 spielte das von den Geigern Wolfgang Schneiderhan und Rudolf Baumgartner ins Leben gerufene Kammerorchester sein Gründungskonzert. Kurz vor ihrem 70. Geburtstag machen die weltberühmten Festival Strings Lucerne nun mit ihrem künstlerischen Leiter Daniel Dodds in Grafenegg Station – mit einem traumhaften Programm: Elgars frühe Streicherserenade vereint pastoral-elegisches Idyll mit Spielwitz, während Mozarts «Jupiter»-Symphonie hinter der majestätischen Maske melancholische Züge verbirgt. Mozarts Konzert für Flöte, Harfe und Orchester zählt zu seinen innigsten Schätzen, ideal für das erlesene Duo aus den Reihen der Wiener Philharmoniker, Soloflötist Karl-Heinz Schütz und Soloharfenistin Anneleen Lenaerts.

Place

Built in 2008, the Auditorium stands for the link between the traditional and the modern in Grafenegg. Located between the historic Riding School and the Schlosstaverne, a fluid connection to the historical buildings was created through wall openings and glass transition spaces. The historical structure therefore blends into the new building, creating a unity of both function and form. Since 2008, the technically and acoustically outstanding concert hall has served year- round as the main concert venue, as well as providing an alternative wet-weather venue for open-air concerts on the Wolkenturm stage. The Auditorium offers seating for an audience of over 1.370 on three levels.
