With its unforgettable soundtrack and legendary dance scenes, Lionsgate’s timeless classic Dirty Dancing tells the story of a summer romance. Released in 1987, the film quickly became an international box office sensation. Directed by Emile Ardolino, written by Eleanor Bergstein, and produced by Linda Gottlieb, the film starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the lead roles alongside Jerry Orbach, Cynthia Rhodes, and Kelly Bishop. Its soundtrack spawned two multi-platinum albums and numerous hit singles, including the Oscar-winning Best Original Song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” Grossing more than $214 million worldwide, Dirty Dancing captured the hearts of audiences everywhere. It went on to inspire a television series, multiple reality competition shows, a prequel film, a globally sold-out stage production, a TV musical adaptation, and a sequel currently in development at Lionsgate.
