Festive mood for Christmas
Timpani, flutes, oboes and trumpets: Bach's Christmas Oratorio begins with these instruments before the strings and choir enter with the words »Jauchzet, frohlocket«. With its rich instrumental scoring, festive choruses and glowing arias, the work sets the mood for the celebration of the birth of Christ –, a splendidly resounding baroque praise of God.
The original sound conductor Fabio Biondi
This time, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra is playing under the direction of Fabio Biondi, founder and director of the Europa Galante ensemble. The violinist and conductor has already thrilled audiences at the Wiener Konzerthaus several times with his captivating interpretations of baroque works as part of the »Resonanzen« programme.
