Richard III.

Richard, Duke of Gloucester, is ugly and deformed and wants to “become a villain.“ His stated goal is to seize the crown and, with it, absolute power. To this end, he stops at nothing, murdering family members, confidants, and political opponents without empathy or moral qualms. A figure as brutal as he is fascinating, in whom the eroticism of power and the allure of evil are united: In 1593, William Shakespeare created one of the greatest seducers in theatrical literature with Richard III, a political actor and cynical Machiavellian, an autocrat whose intellectual and political heirs continue to wreak havoc to this day.
