Tango à la Piazzolla
Bandoneon, piano, guitar, violin and double bass: this is what the first quintet that Astor Piazzolla founded in 1960 looked like. After the death of the founder of Tango Nuevo, his daughter Laura Escalada Piazzolla set up a foundation to preserve his artistic legacy. As a result, the Quinteto Astor Piazzolla was formed, which has access to the entire estate of the late composer who revolutionised tango.
Award-winning quintet
Since then, it has toured the world, delighting international press and audiences with its inimitable style, including at the Montreux Jazz Festival. It has already won a Latin Grammy twice. Now the Quinteto Astor Piazzolla can be heard for the first time at the Wiener Konzerthaus, where they will be presenting their new album »Oblivion«. They will also perform some lesser-known pieces that the audience has never heard before.
