DER BAU

Kafka's story THE BAU is the record of an underground world in which happiness and paranoia are closely related. He describes a kind of human animal, just a Kafkaesque, thinking animal. The being lives in a mental crusade, in a permanent state of emergency, directed against the outside world, against possible intruders.

DER BAU is a parable about society that constantly creates risks by trying to prevent them. As in all of Kafka's stories, the consequences of their actions and thoughts drive the creatures, animals, people and men relentlessly ahead of them, mostly forsaken of any sense of reality.
