Alexandra Dovgan
30.05.2026 | 19:30 | Wiener Konzerthaus - Mozartsaal
Performers:
Alexandra Dovgan, piano
From prelude to vision
Child prodigy, piano phenomenon, exceptional talent, world star: the descriptions of Alexandra Dovgan are not short on superlatives. However, Grigory Sokolov, who became aware of her when she was eleven years old, said that she was not a child prodigy. She is not a child prodigy because she does not play like a child, but like an adult, fully developed personality. In 2021, she performed for the first time at the Wiener Konzerthaus under the motto »Grigory Sokolov presents«. She has since performed four times.
From Bach to Prokofiev
She now performs a piano recital with four different works: a preluding Toccata by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Sonata in C minor D 958 by Franz Schubert. In the second half of the concert, she will devote herself to late romantic repertoire: César Franck\\\'s »Prélude, chorale et fugue« M 21 and Sergei Prokofiev\\\'s 2nd Sonata in D minor op. 14, first performed by the composer himself in 1914.
